As I am now retired I could provide limited mentoring to individuals desiring to learn more about the construction machinery and diesel engine business. This is a very basic business which has become much more sophisticated with all the new technology but still very much a hands on people to people business. Interesting to note that a number of employees in this business and dealership have been there for well over 30 years and in some cases over 50 years.
You have indicated an expertise in Business Creation and Administration
Specifically I worked for a Caterpillar Tractor dealer for 30 years. During that period of time I sold machinery and diesel engines into a variety of applications. Most of that thirty years was spent in management and specifically sales management. We developed business plans on a yearly basis and were measured to these business plans and the associated financial statements that went with them. We developed advertising programs and sales call plans to get the work out about our products.

As the Product Support Manager for the Caterpillar dealership, in Alaska, I had responsibility for the parts and service departments in Anchorage and Alaska with a yearly sales volume in excess of $50 million. We had a large number of service technicians and large shop facilities and a very large field service technicians. On the strictly automotive side we provided engine support to large on highway trucks. This was an enjoyable and rewarding business as we developed long term relationships
